General Maintenance of your HVAC System

The heating, ventilation, and air conditioning system in your home is known as HVAC. It literally maintains the entire decorum or ambience of your home, so you can see how important it is. HVAC systems, like any other electrical device, require regular maintenance. It should be checked for any signs of problem at least once a year, seasonally, or regularly, and various parts will need to be replaced or modified depending on their application. Because various sections are employed for summers and winters, the majority of the adjustments are seasonal, while certain alterations are required throughout the system.

There are several general HVAC system maintenance items that should be examined on a regular basis for the proper working of it. These general maintenance are :

  • SCHEDULE ANNUAL CHECK-UP- As previously said, HVAC systems are used all year. The air conditioner should be turned up in the summer and spring, and the heater should be turned up in the fall and winter. Because certain sections haven’t been utilized in about six months, they may need to be reworked. Regular inspections are necessary to keep the HVAC system in excellent working order. It could also save you a lot of money on costly repairs, as well as help you save energy and extend the life of your appliance.
  • CLEAN THE AIR FILTERS – One of the most crucial aspects of the HVAC system is the filters. By soaking up all the contaminants, this helps to keep the air clean. Air filters should be replaced every 30-90 days, or 1-3 months. Filters must be cleaned once a month in addition to being replaced on a regular basis to avoid clogging.
  • CLEAN THE VENTS – In order to maintain free air movement, the vents must be cleaned on a regular basis. Cleaning the air vents with a vacuum is simple, but if the air flow is restricted, it’s best to contact an HVAC service professional.
  • CLEAN THE Outside UNIT – It’s critical to ensure that the outdoor unit’s air flow is not impeded. Any branches, leaves, or trees that may obstruct the path should be removed. Any plants or trees that are obstructing the path should be pruned as well.
  • DRAINPIPE AND DRAIN PAN OF THE EVAPORATOR COIL – The drainpipe should be examined frequently since, due to its humid, damp environment, it may develop algae or mould. This can cause drain pipe blockage, which can lead to a breakdown. Bleach could be used to break down the molds, but it’s always best to seek the advice of an HVAC system expert.
  • DUCTWORK INSPECTION- You can’t undertake a ductwork inspection on your own, so you’ll need to hire a professional. Debris may accumulate in ducts over time, necessitating their removal in order to avoid overburdening the system. This could lead to the system’s complete failure. It can also cause leaks, resulting in poor air quality or air leaking out.

It’s critical to have your HVAC system tested on a regular basis because most breakdowns are caused by a lack of maintenance. It’s usually best to contact professionals for even the simplest tasks, such as filter cleaning, because they can become too complicated. Because HVAC systems are used all year, it’s critical that we pay particular attention to their upkeep.
