Nikon Corporation (Nikon) is pleased to announce the release of the NIKKOR Z 28mm f/2.8, a compact and lightweight prime lens compatible with full-frame (Nikon FX-format) mirrorless cameras for which the Nikon Z mount has been adopted.

■ Classic lens style design
The “NIKKOR Z 28mm f/2.8 (SE)” is a compact and lightweight lens that matches the “Nikon Z fc” with a design inspired by the film SLR camera “Nikon FM2” released in 1982. The design of the NIKKOR lens of the same period as the “Nikon FM2” has been faithfully reproduced.
Functions such as aperture value and exposure compensation can be assigned to the knurled control ring with a strong presence. It is finished to match the body of “Nikon Z fc“. The name (SE) means “Special Edition”.
■Optical performance
The lens configuration consists of 9 elements in 8 groups, including 2 aspherical lenses, enabling soft bokeh expression that takes advantage of the brightness with an open F value of 2.8 and a shallow depth of field. It is a lens compatible with full-size mirrorless camera, but when attached to an APS-C (Nikon DX-format) mirrorless camera such as “Z fc”, it can shoot with an angle of view equivalent to 42 mm (35 mm format equivalent). The shortest shooting distance is 0.19m.

The AF drive has excellent quietness, and it is designed with consideration for movie shooting such as reduction of focus breathing, which changes the angle of view during focusing, and stabilization of exposure.
